📖 Instructions

  1. Combine the Oats: In a mason jar or container with a lid, pour in the rolled oats. Make sure they are not instant oats because the texture will be off.
  2. Add Chia Seeds (Optional): Add chia seeds. Chia seeds is optional; but I like to add chia seeds for extra fiber and a thicker consistency, if you are new to chia seeds, start small!
  3. Mix in Cocoa Powder: Stir in the cocoa powder. This gives it that rich, chocolatey flavor. I like to use dutch-processed cocoa powder for a smoother taste, but regular cocoa powder works fine, too. Just make sure there are no clumps!
  4. Pour in Coffee: Pour in the cooled coffee. The coffee enhances the chocolate flavor and gives you that morning energy boost. If you're sensitive to caffeine, use decaf or reduce the amount.
  5. Add Milk (Dairy or Non-Dairy): Pour in your milk of choice. Almond milk, soy milk, oat milk, or regular dairy milk all work well. Adjust the amount to reach your desired consistency. I personally prefer oat milk for its creamy texture.
  6. Sweeten to Taste: Add maple syrup or honey to sweeten. Adjust the amount to your liking. If you prefer a less sweet option, you can use a sugar substitute or leave it out altogether.
  7. Add Vanilla Extract (Optional): Stir in the vanilla extract. Vanilla adds a subtle, warm flavor that complements the mocha. Don't skip this if you have it on hand!
  8. Stir Everything Together: Stir all the ingredients together until well combined. Make sure there are no dry clumps of cocoa powder or oats at the bottom of the jar.
  9. Seal and Refrigerate: Seal the jar tightly with a lid. Place it in the refrigerator. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight. This allows the oats to soften and absorb the liquid.
  10. Give it a good look and mix: Before serving, give the oats a good stir. If they seem too thick, add a splash more milk to reach your desired consistency.
  11. Add Toppings (Optional): Top with your favorite toppings. Some suggestions include chocolate shavings, cacao nibs, fresh berries, a drizzle of chocolate syrup, or a dollop of whipped cream. Be creative and have fun!
  12. Enjoy Cold: Enjoy your Mocha Madness Overnight Oats cold, straight from the fridge. It's the perfect grab-and-go breakfast for busy mornings!

📝 Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate cocoa powder.
  • Adjust the amount of sweetener to your liking.
  • Overnight oats can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
